Sundar Pichai to take the stand at Google search antitrust trial where it might be forced to sell Chrome

At a trial in Washington, Wednesday Sundar Pichai, Google CEO is expected to take the stand in a trial where it’s being sought that Google sell its Chrome browser, even maybe share its search index and stop paying companies like Apple to be the default search engine.

Google on its part said the requests equal giving away its hard work, would jeopardize its users privacy and endanger companies like Mozilla that rely on Google for revenue. As products like ChatGPT are being increasingly used for search purposes there are concerns that Google might extend its monopoly to AI which also relies on search data.

Sundar Pichai will testify in Alphabet‘s defense trial that the outcome, which Google already said will appeal, has potential to change the internet landscape should Google be required to take action.

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta ruled last year that Google “has no true competitor”, the company recently altered its agreements to allow device makers to equip their devices with other pre-installed search and AI apps.
